Fourth parliament session begins form today

Kathmandu, April 29: The fourth session of the Federal Parliament has begun from today. The meeting kicked off at 4:00 O’clock afternoon as summoned by President Bidya Devi Bhandari.

This session will see the government present its policy and programme as well as the budget for the next fiscal year.

Speaker Krishna Bahadur Mahara opned the session reading out the letter received from the Office of the President related to the summoning of the summer session.

Earlier, addressing the meeting of the house of representatives, major opposition party and Nepali congress president Sher Bahadur Deuba has accused the government of failing to meet the expectation of people despite being a two third majority one.

He further blamed that the government spent ample amount of time in distributing big works rather than performing well citing its inability to book the guilty involved in Nirmala Panta rape case and its failure to control corruption.

The congress president further said Nepali congress would play constructive role of opposition so as to prevent the government from doing anti-people activities. Addressing the same meeting, co-leader  and former speaker of the house Subas Nembang said the earlier session of the house had done a lot to create base for the implementation of constitution.

He further said the government would act with topmost priority to meet expectations of the people from now onward to meet  the government’s slogan of Happy Nepali prosperous Nepal.

Anil Kumar Jha of Rastriy Janata party said it was appropriate to hand over the responsibility of rebuilding the damaged houses of Bara Parsa storm victims to province and local level rather than to the Nepali army.

Leader Rajendra Shrestha of federal socialist party said the problem of citizenship should be resolved as earliest possible and all encroached lands should be brought under government ownership.

Coordinator of Naya Shakti party Baburam Bhattarai said thorough investigation should be carried out on issues of privatizing the public lands including that of Baluwatar and truth behind that should be brought out.

Other speakers also drew the government’s attention about the contemporary issues.
