Murmu elected as new Indian President; President Bhandari and PM Deuba express best wishes

July 22, Kathmandu: President Bidhya Devi Bhandari and Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba have congratulated newly elected Indian President Dropaudi Murmu and wished her a successful tenure at the office.
Droupadi Murmu is a tribal politician and a former school teacher who hails from the Indian state of Odisha.
She was the candidate of the governing Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
64-year-old Murmu is the country’s first tribal leader in the top post.
