Namobuddha municipality declares 3-day public holiday on Sonam Lhosar

January 2, Banepa: Namobuddha municipality of Kavrepalanchowk has decided to give a public holiday for three days from February 10 on the occasion of Sonam Lhosar, the festival of the Tamang community.

A municipal executive meeting held on Monday decided to give a three-day public holiday at the municipality office and government offices under the municipality on the occasion of 2857th Sonam Lhosar.

Similarly, Temal rural municipality has already decided to give a three-day public holiday on the occasion. All the offices and educational institutions would remain close on these three days.
Tamang community celebrates Lhosar as a cultural and religious festival. ‘Lho’ means year and ‘Sar’ means new in the Tamang language.

Sonam Lhosar falls on February 12 this year.
