Misinformation questions media credibility: PM Deuba

Kathmandu: Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has said that the role of the media will be important for the development of the country.

Speaking at a program organized in Kathmandu today on the occasion of the 24th anniversary of the Reporters Club, Prime Minister Deuba said false and misleading news about information technology would call into question the credibility of the media and urged the journalists to disseminate news impartially.

Speaking on the occasion, Minister for Communications and Information Technology Gyanendra Bahadur Karki said that the press world should now use the pen for democratic stability as the constitution of Nepal guarantees freedom of the press and expression.

Insisting that the government aims to establish Nepal as a prosperous country in Asia within the next ten years, he urged all to move forward together on the journey of prosperity.
