Minor changes in international, regional security environment likely to affect Nepal : PM Deuba

February 24, Kathmandu: The Prime Minister and Defense Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has directed the concerned side to remain alert towards any possible effects on the security sector due to minor changes in the international and regional security environment considering the sensitive geopolitical instability of the country.
Inaugurating a two-day Command Army Chief Coordination Meeting at the Nepal Army Headquarters on the eve of Mahashivaratri and Army Day, PM Deuba cautioned the army command towards a possible influence of international and regional security in the country’s political, economic and social sectors.
Expressing confidence that high quality and expert human resources would be produced in the future through good management of the National Defense University, he lauded the Nepal Army for its contributions to the construction of various national roads including the Kathmandu-Madhes fast track and different national road corridors having strategic importance in country’s economic development.
Noting that the Nepal Army has been successful in timely completing road infrastructure projects of the country, PM Deuba pledged to not allow any resource gaps in the projects being executed by the Army. The Prime Minister expressed his commitment to create enabling environment to immediately implement the ‘Bunker to Barrack Programme’ and also motivate all ranks and files of the Nepal Army
