Plan International unveils ‘Better Today’ report

Kathmandu: The Plan International has unveiled the ‘Better Today’ report for Asia including Nepal. The report has incorporated perspectives of youth on matters related to Covid-19.

In this report, the global pandemic has been viewed through different lenses of young people. There are inevitably various hardships, even loss and pain from the devastating negative effects that COVID-19 brings to the region.

According to the Plan International, the spirit of this initiative was that youth activists in Asia Pacific won’t wait for the storm to pass, instead, they fight the pandemic hard and start to build a better today.

The organization furthe said stepping out of the “battle”, young activists in the region were invited to come together, listen to the personal stories and experiences of their peers in a series of Focus Group Discussions, write each other letters full of empathy and encouragement and see the world they long to visit through a collection of photo voices.

Moreover, the stories and characters featured in Better Today portray what mattered for youths during the pandemic in 2021.

Executive Director for Plan International Asia Bhagyashri Dengle says additional robust support is needed for the youths from the government and social service providers to manage and overcome the negative effects caused by the pandemic.
