71st Democracy Day today- Prez Bhandari extends best wishes

February 19, Kathmandu: The 71st National Democracy Day is being celebrated across the country on Friday amid various programmes.
Every year Falgun 7 is celebrated as the “National Democracy Day” to mark the declaration of democracy in 2007 B.S, ending the 104 years of autocratic Rana regime.
A special ceremony will be organized at the Army pavilion on Friday to mark the day.
Radio Nepal will live broadcast the event.
Earlier, a main-event organizing committee was formed to mark the day under the chairmanship of PM KP Sharma Oli.
Likewise, Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Ministry and Nepal Academy will be jointly organizing poem and essay writing competition on Friday to mark the day.
Prez extends her best wishes
President Bidya Devi Bhandari has stressed the need to move ahead towards achieving economic prosperity with social justice.

Extending best wishes message on the occasion of the National Democracy Day on Friday, President Bhandari extended best wishes for peace and prosperity to all Nepalese living at home and abroad.
Paying tributes to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the cause of democracy, President Bhandari also extended respect to the families of martyrs, the disappeared and wounded in different democratic movements.
