Let the National Convention decide on majority, minority, and popularity: P.M. Oli
Kathmandu- Prime Minister and Chairman of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) has stressed holding the party’s National Convention by April 2021, stating that only the party convention can decide on the issue of majority and minority.
“As we were moving ahead with the unity, as we were walking in the path of unity, we did not care about the strength of each other; we did not take any of these things into consideration and moved ahead with unity. I myself made the committees knowing that I was in the minority,” Chairman Oli said in the party’s secretariat meeting held on Tuesday.
Chairman Oli also said “We know in what position UML was and in what position Maoist-Centre was, but we never considered those things. We were excited to come up with a unified program for the betterment of the nation. The current committees were not made by any convention; they do not carry the cadres’ mandate or popularity. Hence, it makes little sense for us take those committees as a basis for defining majority and minority”
Stating that only the party’s convention can decide which side is in majority or minority, Chairman Oli said “Let’s hold the convention on the second week of April and it will decide on the issues of majority and minority.”
