Rainfall with a thunderstorm, lightning forecast

Kathmandu: There is an influence of local air, a low-pressure system prevailing from Uttar Pradesh to West Bengal of India and westerly wind in Nepal, according to the Meteorological Forecasting Division.

The weather is partly to generally cloudy across the nation. One or two places of hilly areas of Province 1, Madhes Province and Bagmati Province as well as other provinces have been witnessing light to moderate rainfall along with thunderstorms and lightning. The sky of Kathmandu Valley is cloudy in the morning as well as rainfall has been taking place at some places.

The weather of province 1, Madhes Province, Bagmati Province and Lumbini Province would remain generally cloudy while the sky in Karnali Province and Sudurpaschim Province would remain partly cloudy in the afternoon. Rainfall has been taking place at some places of Province 1, Madhes Province and Gandaki Province as well as light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms and lightning at a few places of Bagmati and Karnali Provinces, according to the Division. Partly cloudy weather has been predicted in hilly areas of Province 1, Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini Provinces during the night.

There is a possibility of rainfall with thunderstorms and lightning at a few places in hilly areas of Gandaki and Lumbini Provinces and one or two places of Karnali and Sudurpaschim Provinces. Today’s maximum temperature of Kathmandu Valley was recorded at 1.8 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature at 15.5 degrees Celsius.

According to the Division, Kathmandu Valley recorded five-millimetre rainfall while Dharan recorded the highest 15-millimetre rainfall in the past 24 hours.
