Domestic flights to resume from July 1; Tourism Ministry unveils schedule for international flights

June 24, Kathmandu: Domestic flights is going to be resumed from July 1.

The Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation has directed the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) to resume domestic flights from July 1 by following the health protocol and by not exceeding 50 percent of total occupancy.

The direction follows the Cabinet decision on Monday to allow flight resumption conditionally.

Domestic flights were halted following the second wave of the Covid-19 infection in Nepal.

Likewise, in the case of international flights, the Ministry in a notice on Wednesday has directed the CAAN to resume flights to stated destinations from coming Thursday.

The Ministry has published a flight schedule until June 30 in relation to international flights.

According to the flight schedule, Turkish Airlines will operate a flight from Istanbul to Kathmandu on July 24.

Likewise, on June 25, the Nepali Airline Corporation (NAC) will operate a flight to Japan. Similarly, Air India will be operating a flight from New Delhi to Kathmandu on the same day.

On June 26, Qatar Airways will run a flight from Doha to Kathmandu and Turkish Airlines to Kathmandu.

On the same day, Air Arabia will operate a flight from Abu Dhabi to Kathmandu. On June 27, NAC will operate a flight from Kathmandu to Doha. On the same day, Himalaya Airlines will run a flight each to Kuala Lumpur and Dubai.

On June 28, the NAC will operate a flight to Dubai and Himalaya Airlines to Dammam and Qatar Airways from Doha to Kathmandu.

On June 29, the NAC will operate a flight from Kathmandu to Doha and Turkish Airlines to Kathmandu. Similarly, Fly Dubai will operate a flight to Kathmandu and Salam Airlines to Kathmandu.

On June 30, the NAC will run a flight from Kathmandu to Dubai, the Himalaya Airlines from Kathmandu to Dammam, Qatar Airways from Doha to Kathmandu and Jazeera Airways from Kuwait to Kathmandu.

The Government of Nepal (GoN) had halted domestic flights from May 3 and international flights from May 6 following the second wave of Covid-19.
