St.Xavier’s College organizes journalism workshop specializing in podcast production (audio report)

August 25, Kathmandu: St. Xavier’s College held a two-day writing workshop for journalism students this week.
The workshop organized by the college’s Department of Major Arts (DoMA) at its premises in Maitighar on August 21-22 saw students studying journalism get insightful knowledge in producing podcasts, pitching news stories, and drafting press releases.
According to the college, the workshop’s agenda also included training the students about the theory and practice of producing ethical and impactful news stories.
Canadian journalist and podcaster Marty Logan and The New York Times journalist Bhadra Sharma were the mentors who imparted their knowledge to the students.
The college has said a recorded part of the workshop would also be transformed into a podcast and would be uploaded for public viewing
In his address during the workshop, Father Principal Dr Augustine Thomas S.J. hoped that both the mentors and the students would make the most out of the workshop.
“We are committed to furnishing students with professional skills as well as academic knowledge for them to succeed in their future careers,” Chun Gurung, Faculty Lead of Journalism and Mass Communication, said during the closing ceremony of the workshop.
