Ruling coalition decides to resend Citizenship Bill to President Bhandari for Authentication without any revision

Kathmandu: The ruling coalition has decided to resend the Citizenship Bill (First Amendment) 2022 to President      Vidhya Devi Bhandari for its Authentication, after endorsing it from the parliament without any revision.

The meeting of the coalition leaders held at Baluwatar today decided to resend the bill to the office of the president soon after endorsing it from the parliament.

Government Spokesperson and Communication Minister Gyanendra Bahadur Karki says the government will move as per the constitutional provision that compels the president to authenticate the bill when the parliament re-endorses and sends it again.

Minister Karki further said the coalition partners have decided to forward the bill related to Truth and Reconciliation Commission after holding extensive discussions with the concerned stakeholders, rights activists and civil society.
