Special committee to consult forensic experts on CCTV footage

Kathmandu: The parliamentary special committee formed to investigate the involvement of unauthorized persons in the budget preparation will consult with forensic experts regarding the details including CCTV footage obtained from the police.

In today’s meeting of the Parliamentary Special Committee, the members of the committee watched the CCTV footage that was sealed and sent by the police. 

Secretary of the committee, Dr Surendra Aryal informed that the relevant experts of the forensic lab will be consulted at 4 pm today to see if there is a video of the last 28^th of May in the CCTV footage.

The then finance minister Janardan Sharma has been accused of manipulating the tax rate by calling unauthorized persons to the ministry on the night of 28^th of May before the budget for the financial year 2079/80 was presented to the parliament.

After the ministry replied that the CCTV footage of that day had been deleted, the parliamentary committee took help from the Nepal Police to recover it.
