Lawmakers stress endorsing Citizenship (First Amendment Bill) at the earliest

Kathmandu: Lawmakers in the House of Representatives have stressed the need for endorsing the bill drafted to amend the Nepal Citizenship Act first amendment 2022 at the earliest.

Taking part in the discussion in the house meeting today, lawmakers urged all to take citizenship issues seriously as thousands of youth were facing serious consequences due to lack of citizenship.

The lawmakers also sought consensus among political parties on the citizenship bill saying it was connected to national security.

Home Minister Bal Krishna Khand had proposed the bill’s discussion in the house meeting.

Likewise, the annual report of the Public Account Committee of the House of Representatives has been presented in the House meeting.

President of the Public Account Committee Bharat Kumar Shah presented the 22nd annual report of the committee today.

On the occasion, the CPN UML lawmakers protested demanding the chairmanship of the committee.
