President Bhandari stresses need for keeping food security at top priority

Kathmandu: President Bidhya Devi Bhandari stressed the need for keeping food security as the top priority by making the country self-reliant in food.

Taking part in a discussion with coffee farmers organized at Sheetal Niwas today, President Bhandari said all concerned stakeholders including stage agencies should play positive roles in selling Nepali coffee in the world market.

She also sought a promotional policy to shift sustenance farming to commercial farming to boost agro-exports from the country.

On the occasion, the participants highlighted the possibilities of expanding organic coffee plantations across hills in Nepal.

Also addressing another programme at Sheetal Niwas, President Bidhya Devi Bhandari stressed the need for inculcating the interests of all in sport.

Speaking on the programme organized on the International Badminton Day, President Bhandari said as sports can bring glory to the country, all should focus on the development of sports in the country.

She further said as Nepal possesses diverse geographical terrains, the country has potential for sports tourism.
