4.9 magnitude earthquake hits Pokhara

June 23, Tanahu: A 4.9 magnitude earthquake hit Pokhara and surrounding areas in the early hours of Thursday, according to the National Seismological Center.
The quake took place at 3.56 am with its epicentre at Dhampus of Machhapurchhare Rural Municipality-7 in Kaski district.
Shockwaves from the quake were felt in Baglung, Parbat, Myagdi and Tanahun districts, said the local people.
However, no details of losses caused by the quake has been reported, said ward chair of Dhampus, Baikuntha Bhandari.
