Opening of the country’s second international airport is a historic day: Prime Minister Deuba.

Commercial international flights have started today at Gautam Buddha International Airport, the country’s second international airport.
Kuwait’s Jajira Air Lines plane landed at Nepal’s Gautam Buddha International Airport in Bhairahawa for the first time today with Nepali passengers and ambassadors.
Kuwait’s Jazira 3-23 Airlines landed at Gautam Buddha International Airport in Bhairahawa at 7 am, said Govinda Dahal, general manager of the airport.
Inaugurating the Gautam Buddha International Airport in Bhairahawa today, Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba said that the airport was important for the overall development of the country.
Prime Minister Deuba expressed confidence that the Gautam Buddha International Airport would make a significant contribution to the development of the country’s religious and cultural, tourism and civil aviation sectors.
Home Minister Bal Krishna Khand said that the country’s largest airport after Kathmandu would play an important role not only in the region but also in the development of the country.
Home Minister Khand thanked the tourism entrepreneurs, industrialists and the Asian Development Bank for their continuous support for the speedy completion of the airport.
Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Prem Bahadur Ale said that the operation of Gautam Buddha International Airport would send a message of peace to the world from the holy land of Buddha in Lumbini.
