Schools to remain closed every Saturday and Sunday from May 15

Kathmandu: The government has decided to implement the provision of a weekly two-day public holiday in educational intuitions from May 15.

A meeting held at the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology on Wednesday decided to implement the earlier decision of the government in schools and colleges as well.

To adjust the working hours in schools, the summer and winter vacations have been slashed.

Despite expanding working hours for government employees, the school hours remain the same 10 am to 4 pm with extended working hours on Friday.

As per the new provision, the local government could manage 30 days of annual holidays for schools.
