NEA invites bids from Indian companies to sell 200 MW of surplus electricity during monsoon

Kathmandu: Nepal Electricity Authority has called for tender applications from prospective buyers from India to purchase surplus electricity during the monsoon season.

Making a tender announcement on Friday, Nepal Electricity Authority has called for tenders from Indian companies to buy 200 MW of electricity at a competitive price.

The authority has a plan to sell the electricity for five months beginning from July 1 to November 15, 2022.

Nepal Electricity Authority Managing Director Kulman Ghishing said the companies licensed for electricity trading and distribution by the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission of India could participate in bidding. 

The bidders must apply for a minimum of 50 MW of electricity and the application must arrive before 12 noon on May 27.

The bidder also must deposit 30 thousand Indian Rupees Earnest money.
