Forest fire at Shivapuri yet to be brought under control

April 27, Kathmandu: The forest fire that has engulfed the Shivapuri forest section of the Shivapuri-Nagarjun National Park (SNNP) is yet to come under control.

A team comprising officials of the National Park, Nepal Army, Nepal Police, and the Armed Police Force has been mobilized to bring the fire under control.

The forest fire had started at the Panchakanya community forest which lies in the buffer zone of the national park on Tuesday.

The months of April and May are considered a dry season in Nepal and are prone to storms, lightning, and forest fires.
