EC urges leaders not to make statements to create suspicions about poll

April 15, Kathmandu: The Election Commission (EC) has urged the politicians and stakeholders not to give any statements that create confusion about the election.

In a regular press meet on Thursday, EC Spokesperson Shaligram Sharma Poudel said EC’s attention was drawn to the remarks coming from the political parties’ leaders and cadres that raised confusion about election at a time when the preparations for the poll had reached the final stage.

He said the EC was keeping eye on violations of the election code of conduct and writing and inquiring for necessary action against those cases.

Meanwhile, the EC said as much as 7 million ballot papers were printed needed for 39 districts for the upcoming local level poll.

Spokesperson Sharma said some 800,000 ballot papers have been printed in a daily basis at present.
