Communications Secretary inspects towers of Radio Nepal and Nepal Telecom

Kathmandu: Secretary of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology Dr Baikuntha Aryal has inspected the towers of Radio Nepal and Nepal Telecom.

Secretary Aryal inspected the Radio Nepal’s relay station and repeater tower of Nepal Telecom located at Makwanpur District Thaha Municipality Ward no.4 at an altitude of 2,560 meters in Simbhanjyang.

After the on-site inspection, Secretary Aryal gave the necessary instructions to the staff and highlighted the need for sharing structures to minimize the operational cost.

During the inspection visit, Secretary Aryal was accompanied by Joint Secretary of the Ministry Binod Prakash Singh, Uttar Kumar Khatri, Executive Director of Radio Nepal Buddhi Bahadur KC, and director Manoj Kumar Chaudhary.

On the occasion, Secretary Aryal, who is also the chairperson of the Radio Broadcasting Service Development Committee, directed to continue the program of establishing additional relay broadcasting centres for countrywide reach in the coming days as Radio Nepal has expanded its broadcasting access to 91 per cent of the population at present.

On the occasion, Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology Binod Prakash Singh said that the concerned agencies including Radio Nepal should pay special attention to the service facilities of staff working in relay broadcasting centres and repeater towers in remote places. He pointed out the need to take necessary steps towards doing so.

On the occasion, Buddhi Bahadur KC, Executive Director of Radio Nepal, said out of 26 relay FM stations of Radio Nepal Simbhanjyang’s FM Relay Broadcasting Center is an effective broadcasting relay broadcasting centre with a large coverage area. He also informed about the challenges of broadcasting centres and the broadcasting technology adopted by Radio Nepal.
