All-party meeting discusses parliament obstruction and MCC

Kathmandu: An all-party meeting called by speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota has discussed the issues of ending parliament obstruction, bills tabled in the parliament and endorsement of the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) Pact.

After the all-party meeting, talking to media persons, speaker Sapkota said the meeting focused on forwarding parliamentary business ending its obstruction.

The meeting also stressed continuing dialogues with oppositions to let the way to parliament. Speaker Sapkota said he would be effortful to create an environment for dialogue among the political parties.

The speaker also urged the opposition parties to seek consensus for ending parliament obstruction as the significant bills including the Citizenship bill and the Civil aviation bill need to be endorsed soon. 

Responding to the queries of the media persons regarding endorsement of the MCC Pact, speaker Sapkota said the role of the parties would be decisive to that end justified his role only as a referee.

The all-party meeting was attended by Prime minister and Nepali Congress president Sher Bahadur Deuba, CPN Maoist Centre Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda and CPN Unified Socialist Chairman Madhav Kumar Nepal among leaders of other political parties represented in the parliament.

However, the main opposition CPN UML boycotted the meeting.
