Martyrs Day being observed across the country amid various programs

January 30, Kathmandu: Martyrs Day is being observed across the Country by commemorating the sacrifices of Martyrs for the freedom, democracy and development of the Country.
Evcery year Magh 16 is celebrated as Martyrs Day, commemorating the contribution of the martyrs of different democratic movements in the country.
Four leading Martyrs Shukra Raj Shastri, Dharma Bhakta Mathema, Dashrath Chand and Gangalal Shrestha were sentenced to death for raising their voices for people’s rights.

President Bidya Devi Bhandari has said it would be a true tribute to the martyrs to ensure durable peace, good governance, development and prosperity in the country by effectively implementing the federal democratic republic achieved with the sacrifices of martyrs.
Giving a message of best wishes on the occasion of the Martyrs Day, President Bhandari wished the Day inspired all to work devotedly to realize the dream of the martyrs. The martyrs had sacrificed their lives for the rights of the people and country.

Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has said people’s rule in the country has been established following the massive political changes due to martyrs’ sacrifice.
In a message given on the occasion of Martyrs Day, PM Deuba said that different political changes from 2007BS to 2062/63 BS remained successful for the establishment of democracy in the country due to the martyrs’ devotion, dedication and sacrifices.
In his message, PM Deuba also expressed heartfelt condolences to all known and unknown martyrs for sacrificing their priceless lives for the cause of democracy and democratic system in the country. PM Deuba has wished for speedy recovery to those injured during their struggles for the democracy.
