Health counseling to senior citizens at doorstep

January 19, Khotang: Jantedhunga Rural Municipality in the district has managed health counseling at people’s doorstep. Health counseling is focused on senior citizens.

The health service is arranged for the senior citizens citing their age and health condition, which causes difficulty for them to reach the health facilities. Now, the health workers- ANM and CMA- reach every household with senior citizens and provide health counseling.

Health section coordinator at the rural municipality Pavan Pokharel informed that the health counseling service begun from Dambarkhursibalaya of Ward No-4 will be expanded to all wards at the local level. The health workers also provide common health checkups to aging people.

Similarly, the Chairman of the rural municipality Shankar Bahadur Rai said, “The health counseling focusing senior citizens will gradually expand in all wards. The health workers are mobilized from concerned ward offices.” Even the data collection was going on to provide medicine to the people surviving with incurable diseases.

With this decision at the local level, the people here have been elated.
