Westerly wind brings precipitation, weather to improve from Saturday

Cloudy condition prevails across the country today with rainfall and snowfall in the high hilly and mountainous areas, due to the influence of the westerly low pressure system.

Light to moderate rainfall has occurred in most of the places of the country while light to moderate snowfall has taken place in the high hilly and mountainous areas, the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, Meteorological Forecasting Division said.

Meteorologist Sajina Shakya said precipitation is taking place in most places of the country today due to the influence of the westerly low pressure system. She said the weather will likely improve from Saturday. The Division has issued a special weather bulletin for the next 24 hours, warning of the possibility of heavy snowfall in many places of the high hilly and mountainous region of the central and western part of the country.

On Saturday as well the weather will be partly to generally cloudy throughout the country. Light rain will occur in few places of the hilly region while there is likelihood of light snowfall in some places in the high hilly and mountainous areas in the western region.

The same weather phenomenon will prevail during the night as well. On Sunday the weather will be partly cloudy in the hilly region with the possibility of light rainfall in few places of the hilly region, the Division said.
