Speaker should be elected at the earliest : NC President Deuba

Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba has said Speaker of the House of Representatives should be elected at the earliest.

Talking to media persons at Biratnagar airport yesterday, the opposition party President Deuba urged the ruling party not to make the parliament captive of indecision. He also claimed that the Nepali Congress would run the parliament in a systematic and disciplined manner if Nepali Congress got the post of Speaker.

He blamed the ruling Communist Party for the delay in the selection process of the Speaker. He also shared the information that the Nepali Congress would call its parliamentary party meeting soon to remove the stalemate of the parliament and a concrete decision would be taken from the meeting to this regard.

Responding to a query, the opposition party President Deuwa stressed that the government had to pass the MCC agreement made the US government as the Nepali Congress had been supporting it. On a different note, he said the party organisation should be made stronger by resolving minor problems seen at the party. He also ruled out the possibility of the rescheduling of the party’s general convention.
