Local level representatives cannot campaign in the election

October 13, Kathmandu: The Election Commission has prohibited local-level elected representatives to engage in election campaigning for or against any candidate or party within their own municipality.
The Election Code of Conduct, 2079 issued for the election of members of the House of Representatives and the Provincial Assembly provides that if the elected executives want to campaign in favor of a candidate in places other than the local level where they were elected, they can only do so without using government resources .
Issuing a statement on Wednesday, Assistant Spokesperson of the Election Commission, Surya Prasad Aryal, stated that a complaint was received about an elected official being involved in campaigning in favor of a candidate at the local level against the code of conduct.
