Chief Minister Pokharel and Pakistani Ambassador Shah stress enhancing cooperation

September 3, Kathmandu: The Chief Minister of Gandaki Province, Krishna Chandra Nepali Pokharel and the Ambassador of Pakistan to Nepal, Syed Haider Shah, held a cordial meeting at the Chief Minister’s office in Pokhara on Friday.

During the meeting, Chief Minister Pokharel said that the relationship between Nepal and Pakistan was strong at the people’s level and emphasized that bilateral cooperation in the fields of education, health and tourism should be further enhanced.

Chief Minister Pokharel also expressed grief over the loss of life and property in the recent floods in Pakistan.

Talking to the journalists after the meeting,  Ambassador Shah said that he was thrilled over his first visit to Pokhara, as he had heard about the beauty of Pokhara.

 Ambassador Shah emphasized on the need to increase cooperation between the two countries in sectors such as tourism, education, health, and climate change.

 He also said that the scholarship quota for Nepali students going for higher education in Pakistan would be increased.

Ambassador Shah said that climate change was causing an adverse impact in countries like Nepal and Pakistan, and joint initiative and cooperation were necessary to mitigate it.
