Church fire kills 41 in Egypt

August 15, Kathmandu: At least 41 people died and 12 others were injured in a fire that broke out in a Coptic Orthodox Church in the Giza province of Egypt on Sunday, according to the Ministry of Health of Egypt.

“The death toll in the Abu Sefein Church fire is still being counted, and the final details are yet to come,” the Ministry of Health said in a statement.

According to the ministry, 37 ambulances had been sent to the scene.

According to the Ministry of Interior, the fire broke out due to an electrical short circuit in the air conditioner on the second floor of the church building.
