January 8, Kathmandu: The Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation has formed a committee to probe an issue relating to the Nepal-India Pashupati Friendship Dharmashala.

Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Prem Bahadur Ale directed for the formation of a five-member committee under the leadership of the treasurer of the Pashupati Area Development Trust (PADT), Narayan Prasad Subedi.

The committee has been asked to submit the report to the committee within seven days.

The PADT has leased out Dharmashala to one Aananda Pvt. Ltd. (Batas Group).

The Group has been accused of running Dharmashala as a hotel and rampantly taking charges from religious tourists for using it.

The Youth Association on Friday submitted a memorandum to the Minister demanding investigations into the matter.

Receiving the memo, the Minister assured that all public structures and lands that were encroached would be taken back.
