Health Ministry asks hospitals and officials to make necessary preparations to battle Omicron variant
Kathmandu: Additional 24 cases of Omicron variant of Covid-19 have been confirmed in Nepal from the test of 250 samples.
While testing 11 hundred and 46 samples, 250 samples had S-gene negative and the screening confirmed Omicron positive in 24 samples.
Spokesperson of the Ministry of Health and population Dr Sangita Kaushal Mishra said the Ministry has instructed all the hospitals to be prepared for prevention, control and cure of Omicron variant.
The Ministry has also asked the hospitals and health workers to arrange adequate oxygen and other equipment needed for the treatment of the COVID-19 patients.
Spokesperson Mishra further said tests for COVID-19 would be stepped up in the bordering points and those testing positive for the infection would be treated in the isolation facilities.
The Ministry has also designated Bir Hospital, Civil Service Hospital, Birendra Military Hospital, Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital, Province Public Health Lab in Province No 1 and Bheri Hospital, for S-Gene Screening.
