Health Ministry plans to administer booster dose of anti-covid-19 vaccine from mid-January

Kathmandu: The government has been mulling over to administer the booster dose of anti-covi-19 vaccine from mid-January.

Health and Population Minister Birod Khatiwada said if the WHO gave a green signal, the frontline health workers would get booster dose of the vaccine.

He also informed that the government has made necessary preparation to save lives from the possible outbreak of Omicron variant. 

Minister Khatiwada has also urged all to take vaccine cards or PCR report while crossing the borders as the country has porous border.

Meanwhile. a total of 2 hundred and 36 new cases of Covid-19 have been reported in Nepal on Wednesday.

Among the newly infected persons, one case was confirmed to be a case of new variant of concern Omicron. With this three cases of Omicron have been confirmed in Nepal so far.

Likewise, 2 hundred and 72 people recovered from the Covid-19 infection in the past 24 hours. Similarly, 2 persons died of the virus infection today taking the corona related death toll to 11 thousand 5 hundred and 79 in the country so far.
