November 13, Kathmandu: The Supreme Court could not conduct any hearings on Friday due to the refusal of the justices to sit on the benches and protests staged by Nepal Bar Association.

Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher JBR had assigned eight benches for 2 hundred 23 cases.

However, the justices and lawyers didn’t participate in any of the discussions.

The Supreme Court judges have been boycotting the hearing since October 24th, calling for Chief Justice JBR’s resignation.

Likewise, Nepal Bar Association restricted Chief justice, Rana, from entering the court through the main gate. Chief justice Rana however, used another gate to enter the court on Friday.

Nepal Bar Association has been staging protests demanding the resignation of the Chief Justice after allegations that he sought a share in the expansion of the Council of Ministers that raised a question on the dignity of the judiciary.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba and Minister for Law Dilendra Prasad Badu had held discussion on Friday regarding the disputes seen in the judiciary.
