Parliamentary Committee directs government to check trend of going abroad for employment without labor permit

Kathmandu: Industry, Commerce, Labour and Consumer Welfare Committee of the House of Representatives has directed the government to check the trend of going for foreign employment without a labour permit.


The meeting of the committee held at Singh Durbar on Sunday asked the government to put the policy and prohibitory measures in place to stop the trend of people going abroad in tourist visas and entering the labour market of the destination country.


Committee president Bimal Prasad Shreewastav directed the Home Ministry, Labour and Social Security Ministry and Tourism, Culture and Civil Aviation Ministry to amend and formulate laws if necessary so that the trend of seeking foreign employment illegally could be checked.


Likewise, the committee directed the government to manage the process of sending the aspirant labourers who were in waiting list to depart to South Korea completing due process.


Speaking in the meeting, Secretary at the Labour Ministry Surya Prasad Gautam said due to some legal hurdles, recusing people in destination countries had been a problem.
