General Secretary Dr Koirala announces candidacy for party president

Nawalpur: General Secretary of Nepali Congress Dr Sashank Koirala has announced his candidacy for the party president to be elected from the coming 14th general convention. General Secretary Koirala announced he was firm to field candidacy for the party president. He said it while inaugurating the NC Devchuli Municipality office here Saturday.

“Girijababu had announced his candidacy from his hometown Biratnagar. I am also announcing my candidacy from my constituency in Nawalpur,” he reminded, adding that he was however for selecting the leadership based on consensus. In case, the consensus eludes, it is democratic to hold an election to pick the party president.

Koirala stressed the need to unite the party from the very base.

Devchuli Municipality of the NC established the party office at BP Memorial Building. Also, the member of the House of Representatives (HoR) elected from constituency no 1 of Nawalpur, expressed the belief that he would be elected again for the federal parliament in the coming election too.

According to him, the construction of the BP international playground and trauma centre has intensified as per the development initiative he took at Nawalpur.
