Security of life and property first priority: Home Minister Khand

Minister for Home Affairs Bal Krishna Khand has said that the security of citizen’s life and the property was the first priority of the government.

In an interaction on Reforms of Home Affairs Ministry’s Administration held today, Minister Khand assured that the Ministry was effortful to ensure the security of people and property. The event was organized with the participation of former office-bearers of the Home Ministry and Security forces. On the occasion, Minister Khand directed the high level officials of Nepal Police and Armed Police force and National Investigation Department not to compromise on the security matters and maintain peace and harmony in the country.

He also shared that the government was committed not to allow Nepali territory being used against any friendly nation. Minister Khand said that no security officials can be exempt from their responsibilities of maintaining peace and security. He also urged all to work with collective responsibility and accountability. On another note, Minister Khand said that he was always effortful to increase budget and facilities to security forces deputed in tough time of COVID-19 pandemic. He said he will talk to Prime Minister and Finance Minister to this end. The Minister also said that he was positive to implement the suggestions given by former Ministry officials to make the Ministry administration effective.

Umesh Mainali, former chairman of Public Service Commission and also former secretary at the Home Ministry had presented working paper on ‘New Dimension of Security and Challenges of Home Ministry’ in the interaction. Mainali stressed on developing a mechanism in all the seven provinces to direct and mobilize chief district officers of respective districts in the province. Similarly, former AIG of Nepal Police Bigyan Raj Sharma had presented working paper on Strengthening of security bodies under the Home Ministry. Sharma focused on increasing the participation of police personnel in immigration department and expanding the CIB and Cyber Bureau to province levels. Former secretaries Tikadutta Niraula, Chandi Shrestha, Mohan Krishna Sapkota, Padam Prasad Pokharel, Surya Silwal, Narayan Gopal Malego, Nepal Police former IGPs Dhruba BahadurPradhan, Achyut Krishna Kharel, Moti Lal Bohora, Om Bikram Rana and Ramesh Chandra Thakuri and APF former chiefs Sanat Basnet, Durja Kumar Rai, Kishor Lama had commented on the papers.
