Public holiday granted on Krishna Janmashtami and Gaijatra festivals
The Government has announced public holidays for Krishna Janmashtami and Gaijatra festivals.
The cabinet meeting held at Singh Durbar on Thursday decided to grant a public holiday across the country on Krishna Janmashtami, the birth anniversary of Lord Krishna that falls on August 30.
Likewise, a public holiday has been granted in the Kathmandu Valley and also to the Newar community across the country on August 23 on the occasion of the Gaijatra festival.
Government Spokesperson and Law Minister Gyanendra Bahadur Karki said the cabinet meeting also approved the proposal of removing trees in the Kaalbhairav and Garuishankar community forests for the construction of the Kathmandu-Tarai Madhesh fast tract.
The cabinet also recommended General Prabhuram Sharma for his appointment as the Chief of Army Staff.
