Decision on MCC pact will be taken at appropriate time: Minister Bhusal

August 9, Kathmandu: Minister for Energy and Irrigation Pampha Bhusal met US Ambassador to Nepal Randy Berry at the Ministry of Energy in Singha Durbar on Monday.

According to the secretariat of Minister Bhusal, discussions on matters of bilateral relations and mutual benefit were discussed during the meeting.

On the occasion, Ambassador Berry shared that the US was providing financial and technical support to the energy sector of Nepal and would continue to do so in the days to come.

Ambassador Berry stressed working together in the areas of climate change adding the US was active in human resources development through multilateral cooperation.

He also urged Minister Bhusal to forward the Millineum Challenge Corporation (MCC) pact as it was an important project for the development of the energy sector in Nepal.

He further shared that the US was ready to clarify every issue regarding the MCC as it had only the purpose of skill and knowledge transfer in the domain.

In response, Minister Bhusal extended thanks to the US for its support to the development endeavours of Nepal, even in tough times caused by the disasters.

She said that her party, the government, and the parliament would decide on MCC at an appropriate time.

She also said that all should be united in resolving the issues surfaced by climate change adding that the US government’s decision on climate change was benefiting the world.
