CJ Rana says constitutional appointments via ordinance in line with laws

August 9, Kathmandu: Chief Justice(CJ) Cholendra Shumsher Rana has responded that the constitutional appointments made by the KP Sharma Oli government through ordinance were in line with laws.
In a written response submitted by CJ Rana to the Supreme Court via the Office of the Attorney General stated that the appointments to the constitutional bodies through ordinance were made in line with the Constitutional Council (Work, Responsibility and Procedure) Related Act 2066 BS.
The written response stated that the appointments were made following the jurisdiction of the Constitutional Council.
Speaker at the House of Representatives (HoR) Agni Sapkota had filed a writ petition seeking an order to declare such appointments made on December 15 last year and afterwards invalid.
Chief Justice Rana also mentioned that the writ should be scraped as the claim was invalid.
