Karnali Province Assembly’s budget session prorogued

The ongoing budget session of the Karnali Province Assembly has prorogued. Upon the recommendation of the Province Government, Province Chief Govinda Prasad Kalauni announced the prorogation of the ongoing 8th session of the Province Assembly effective from 12.00 Wednesday.

The Council of Ministers on Wednesday had decided to prorogue the budget session of the provincial assembly. Province Chief Kalauni announced the prorogation of the session in accordance with Article 183 (2) of the Nepal Constitution, stated a press release issued by the Province Chief Office. Owing to continued disruptions from main opposition CPN-UML, the budget session was frequently affected.

Though the province government presented the budget for the fiscal year 2021/22 on June 15, the assembly meetings then had been postponed without entering into the agenda due to UML obstructions. The province government is making preparation to introduce the budget through ordinance after the budget is not likely to be endorsed by the province assembly.
