85 percent women’s work underrated in the Country

July 13, Kathmandu: The Women Human Rights activists have said that 85 percent of women’s work has still been underrated.
Speaking at a virtual discussion organized on the occasion of World Population Day on Sunday, Women’s Human Rights activist Dr Renu Adhikari stressed the need to register the work of domestic women migrant workers legally, adding that their works should get equal respect.
Likewise, she further stated that the local level should be effortful in registering the work of women in informal sectors saying such women were even being deprived of vaccines and relief materials during the time of coronavirus pandemic.
Speaking at the same program, UML lawmaker Dr Binda Pandey said that the problems of domestic women migrant workers were not less than foreign migrant workers.
Similarly, Member of the National Planning Commission Dr Usha Jha said all sides should create an environment to evaluate and respect the domestic women migrant workers and give them a dignified identity.
A recently published report of the International Labour Organization (ILO) has stated that domestic workers women are being paid 20.5 percent less than women working in other sectors.
