EU continues providing essential supplies to Nepal; Italian assistance arrives

June 25, Kathmandu: As Nepal continues to grapple with the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic, the European Union (EU) and its member states are leaving no stones unturned in helping Nepal face the current crisis.
Accordingly, Italy has provided Nepal with essential medical supplies. The supplies arrived at capital Kathmandu based Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) on Friday morning.
The medical supplies include twenty ventilators, 6000 isolation gowns, and 10000 coverall suits. Italy has provided the medical supplies via the EU’s Civil Protection Mechanism.
EU’s Ambassador to Nepal Nona Deprez handed over the medical supplies to Chief Expert at the Ministry of Health and Population, Dr Roshan Pokharel at a brief function at TIA. French and German Ambassadors and Honorary Consul to Italy, Pratima Pande were also present on the occasion.
Ambassador Deprez informed that the EU and its member countries were effortful to help Nepal face the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic.
“As long-standing friends and partners, the EU and its member states support Nepal during these difficult times. These medical supplies will help against the spread of COVID and alongside public health measures will help save precious lives across Nepal,” Deprez said.
Alongside other donors, the EU will monitor the distribution and the use of the supplies across the country, according to the press release issued by the Delegation of the EU to Nepal
