Election Commission informs all stakeholders about separate status about CPN UML and CPN Maoist Centre

March 10, Kathmandu: The Election Commission has informed all stakeholders about separate status of (CPN UML) and (CPN Maoist Centre).

Commission’s Spokesperson Raj Kumar Shrestha said the commission wrote to the federal and provincial parliament secretariats along with election commission offices in all districts about the separate status of the CPN UML and CPN Maoist Centre following the Supreme Court’s verdict.

Spokesperson Shrestha said the commission also wrote to both parties to apply for unification with the decisions of the respective central committees, proposing the name of the new party to be formed and election symbol they wanted within 15 days if they wanted to have unification again.

The Commission also confirmed the annulment of the Nepal Communist Party (NCP) formed after unification between CPN UML and CPN Maoist Centre as per the Supreme Court’s verdict.

The Commission also decided to inform the latest decision to CPN UML Chair KP Sharma Oli and NCP Maoist Centre chair Puspa Kamal Dahal Prachanda.

The commission has also asked the government to annul the Nepal gazette notice on formation of Nepal Communist party (NCP) and publish the notice of the annulment of their unification.##

Likewise, the commission has asked Gopal Kiranti and Sandhy Tiwari to come to the election to update their party’s name and election symbol as the then existing parties got revived.
