Government to procure additional 5 million doses of covid-19 vaccine

February 28, Kathmandu: Minister of Health and Population Hridayesh Tripathi has said all three tier of government have been jointly mobilized to accomplish the second phase of the vaccination drive to begin from 7^th of March.

Interacting with the chief editors at the ministry on Sunday, Minister Tripathi claimed the government initiating the vaccination for people above 55 years to cover the vulnerable group susceptible to virus infection.

Minister Tripathi claims the vaccination drive being a significant achievement of the government while more than 100 countries in the world are yet to receive the vaccine.

He also assured covishild to be safe and urged people to get vaccinated saying more than 429 thousand vaccinated people have not reported any major complications.

Minister Tripathi further says the private sector would be allowed to procure vaccines and let them to vaccinate people once the government completes the free vaccination to the priority groups.

Also speaking on the occasion, Secretary at the ministry Laxman Aryal said out of 2 million doses of vaccine procured by government 1 million doses arrived in Nepal and next 1 million doses would arrive soon. He also announced that the process of procuring 5 million additional doses was at the final phase.
