Nepal to receive 5 billion rupees for reducing carbon emission
February 26, Kathmandu: Nepal is to receive five billion rupees for reducing carbon emission by its forest conservation programmes.
Secretary of the Ministry of Forest and Environment, Dr. Bishwa Nath Oli, and the World Bank’s Country Director Mr. Faris Hadad-Zervos have singed the carbon emission reduction agreement on the 24 of February.
As per the agreement, Nepal will get $45 million US dollar for decreasing 9 million tons of carbon emission by conserving forests in western Terai.
Nepal is the fifth country in Asia and 12th country in the world to have singed such agreement with the World Bank.
