NMA appoints Nirmal Purja as its Goodwill Ambassador

February 3, Kathmandu:  The Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA) has appointed Nirmal Purja Magar as its  Goodwill Ambassador.

Purja  and his team members recently made a new world record of successfully climbing the K2, the world’s second tallest mountain in the winter season.

Purja is already a Guinness record holder by successfully climbing all the 14 mountains above 8,000 meters in seven months.

NMA general secretary Kul Bahadur Gurung said,  NMA would  also honor Purja with a cash prize of  100,000 Rupees.

Gurung also shared, all the  members of the Nepali team who successfully climbed  Mt K2 would not be charged any fee of NMA membership for 10 years.
