Government honours Mount K2 summiteers

January 27, Kathmandu: The Government of Nepal (GoN) has honoured the team of Nepali mountaineer who scaled the second highest mountain in the world Mt K2 (8,611 Meters) during the winter season, being the first team to do so.

The team of Mountaineers led by Nirmal Purja had achieved the record-breaking feat.

Honouring the mountaineers at the PM’s official residence at Baluwater on Tuesday, PM KP Sharma Oli lauded the team for extending the glory of Nepal and Nepali’s identity across the world.

Saying only the adventurers could summit a mountain, the PM promised to bestow special decoration and honours on the mountaineers.

Also speaking on the occasion, team leader Purja complained of not getting any support although they had taken the challenge to extend the glory and identity of the country.
