January 6, Kathmandu: The Department of Environment (DoE) has urged all to adopt special precaution while going out of homes citing the rising level of air pollution in the Kathmandu Valley.

Issuing a statement on Tuesday, Director General (DG) of the DoE Mukunda Pd Niraula urged and asked children, senior citizens, patients with respiratory issues and heart diseases not to come out of homes as far as possible.

He said the air pollution level had sharply increased in the valley especially in the morning and evening which may have adverse effects on human health.

The DoE said that since the weather pattern also played a vital role in the level of pollution, the pollution level is likely to remain the same or increase for some more days.

The DoE has also urged the people in the Terai region to adopt precaution as the pollution level has significantly increased in the region as well.

The DoE has asked people not to burn things as it aggravates the pollution level.
