Risky Surgery Performed in Charikot

A complex operation has been performed on the ectopic pregnancy at a Primary Health Center (Proposed Charikot Hospital), in Dolakha district headquarters Charikot.
Sarita Thami, 33, of Dolakha Vigu Village Municipality, Ward No. 8, Khopachangu, who is at risk of over bleeding due to ectopic pregnancy, has successfully undergone emergency surgery said Tula Krishna Gupta. The patient had come to the hospital in a critical condition on September 21st. If it was delayed, there was a risk of death, so there was no need to refer her to Kathmandu, added Dr Gupta.
“Normally, a person’s body should have at least 12 grams of haemoglobin per deciliter,” said Dr Gupta. He further added, during the operation, about three litres of blood was removed from Sarita’s abdomen.
A team of Dr Santosh Pathak, Dr Uday Diwakar, Dr Karuna Khati and Nurse Rashmi Basi were involved in the operation, according to the hospital.

Sarita Thami, who is recovering in a hospital bed, said that she has been suffering from abdomen problems for almost a year now. The hospital treated me despite the risks and I got a new life – Sarita said.
Sarita’s husband Ratna Bahadur Thami said that the hospital treated Sarita for free. He could not have been able to bring her to Kathmandu due to financial problems, but his wife received good treatment at Charikot Hospital without any cost. Ratna Bahadur added that he had to buy some medicines that were not available in the hospital.
